Is a workspace worth building?

Build-along · ~8 min at your own keyboard

A workspace is a folder the AI reads before it answers, and it costs real time to set up and keep. It buys three things: you stop re-explaining yourself, the folder moves to any tool you switch to, and a human can open it and see what the AI was told. It does not buy smarter answers. Measured, a file-based memory trades a little accuracy for a lot of cost, so build it for the work you repeat, not the work you did once. The threshold is about seven asks against the same material. Under that, a saved prompt is the right tool and this area is not.
