Wrap up the day into the notebook

Lesson 2 of 7 · The working week

By the end you can turn a day's scattered notes into a notebook entry with what was done, what was decided, what changed, and what is still open with an owner.

1 · Learn the move · Recipe pattern

The day's real record lives in four places: the run sheet, your phone, a sticky note on the hood, and your memory, which is gone by Monday. A ten-minute wrap-up fixes that if it always has the same shape. DONE: what ran, with run or sample IDs. DECIDED: what was decided and by whom, in one line each. CHANGED: any step done differently from the SOP, written as a deviation, not hidden in prose. OPEN: what is not finished, each with an owner and a date. The model sorts your scraps into that shape and stops there. It does not tidy a value it cannot see in your notes, and it does not turn 'looked weird' into a conclusion. Anything missing becomes [NEEDS: ...] so you can see the hole before you sign the entry.

Turn my notes from today into a notebook entry: [paste notes, run sheet lines, messages]. Sections: DONE (with run / sample IDs) / DECIDED (what, who) / CHANGED from the SOP (as deviations) / OPEN (item, owner, date). Use only what is in my notes. Any missing value, ID or owner = [NEEDS: ...]. Do not interpret results; 'looked odd' stays as I wrote it.

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

It is 6:40 pm. Today you ran the second western for the knockdown, changed the blocking step because the milk was out, agreed with your PI to drop the 72-hour timepoint, and noticed the loading control looked uneven. Your notes are four lines on the run sheet, two texts to a labmate and a photo of the whiteboard. You leave for a conference tomorrow for three days.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
